When the sun is shining outside it automatically elevates my mood. Sunshine warms. It brings an essence of cheerfulness and joy. That is why we should make a conscious effort each day to spread sunshine. It’s contagious!
James Barrie, author of Peter Pan said:
“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”
Imagine if everyone around you were doing something to bring spread sunshine and happiness to someone else. That sunshine that would dissipate the darkness and gloom that is being spread throughout the world. How is that possible? Because it starts with me. And it starts with you. The world is our own sphere of influence. Just like the sun is round, that sunshine will encircle us and envelope us and those around us.
Light is Powerful
The fact is, light is more powerful than darkness. We can overcome that darkness by radiating sunshine in our actions, our choices and our interactions with others.
President Gordon B. Hinckley said:
If the world is to be improved, the process of love must make a change in the hearts of men. It can do so when we look beyond self to give our love to God and others, and do so with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind.
Each of us has the power to spread sunshine that will make the world a little better.
A feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Delight. Jubilation. Rejoicing. Happiness. Gladness. Exhilaration. Bliss.
What brings JOY for you?
Friends. Family. Good food. Music. Dancing. Creating.
Joy is what makes life beautiful. It’s what gets us through challenges and allows light in to illuminate the shadows. Joy heals our wounds, inspires us to greatness, and fills our souls with goodness. -MeiMei Fox
When we SHARE our JOY with others it multiplies. It becomes sweeter. It creates lasting memories.
Joy comes more naturally to some than to others. Circumstances that surround us may blind us from the simple joys that can be found in life. However, as we create an awareness we will find little treasured gems of joy around us everyday. Remembering with simple gratitude the good things in our lives that we often take for granted can change our perspective.
There is no time like today. As we rise with gratitude in our hearts for a new day it can set our feet on a path of happiness. We can seek out the joys of today instead of waiting for that illusive “something” to come bringing happiness. “I’ll be happy when I graduate from college.” “After I get married I’ll be happy.” “Happiness will come when I get my we buy dream home.” “You can find happiness on your dream vacation.”
The older I get the more I realize that if you don’t find joy in today you aren’t going to find it in tomorrow either.
Once You’ve Missed Out…
A very wise and inspired man of God said:
I plead with you not to let the important things in life pass you buy, planning instead for that illusive and non-existent future day when you’ll have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey-now…Never save something for a special occasion. Every day of your life is a special occasion…
If you do something that turns out not quite as you had planned, you can almost always put it right, get over it, learn from it. But once you’ve missed out on something, it’s gone…try to keep that list as short as possible.
Send that note, give that compliment, give a hug, say “I love you” more, always express thanks, never let problems be more important than a person to be loved, call that friend, visit that person, don’t take loved ones for granted, buy that dress.
Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with family and friends…let us not put off that which is most important.
