Crocheted Daisy Duck Hat
This crocheted Daisy Duck hat is so adorable and one of the funnest hats to make. My granddaughter chose this from a Pinterest pin. Their beautiful hat has a purple bow, but she wanted a pink bow because she adores pink.
The pattern for this hat is by Beauty Crochet Pattern and can be found for $4.99 on Raverly, or $5.00 on etsy. I did not buy their pattern, but rather improvised using their idea. So unless you can improvise, too, I would suggest you buy their pattern.
Using an H hook and some medium-4 yarn, crochet a basic beanie hat using instructions like Ashlea’s at Heart Hook Home.
I did not write down how I did the blue part of the eyes. But my guess is that I did a chain to the length that looked about right (shorter though), then SC around one side increasing at the end (2 SC in 2 or 3 stitches), then down the other side. Then I would have turned and SC up and around again, increasing at the top, and repeated that to the right size. It looks like I did about 4 or so rows that way.
The black part of the eyes are simple small rounds. I used a French knot for the whites (with a needle and white yarn). I embroideried the eyelashes on with a yarn needle and black thread.
The beak was done with yellow, SC just under the eyes, turn and decrease 1 SC for a few rows (approximately 5 or 6).
I used a treble crochet and a bobble stitch on the bow. Chain about 12, then TC a row, then HDC a row, repeat to length of bow. Bobble crochet around the edge. Make the center with a length of about 2.5 inches of SC for about 4 or 5 rows. Secure around the bow sewing it with a yarn needle.
My granddaughter loved the hat so much she chose to wear it to school on Crazy Hat Day.
