Crocheted Mint Hat
My daughter requested a hat for herself in one of her favorite colors; mint green. When I found this mint green hat on pinterest I knew it was the perfect one. The pattern is free from Oombawka Designs. It’s called Hope and it’s a woman’s sized hat that she says is light and comfortable to wear. Of course you want to be sure and crochet it in a soft, light-weight Medium-4 yarn, using a size H hook. I used Caron Simply Soft and it is just a delight to crochet with.
Getting the Right Size Hook
When I first made this hat I used a crochet hook that was too big and the hat turned out choppy. I had the whole top of the hat done and it wasn’t shaping up nice and round so I unraveled it. Sometimes, it’s just OK to start over. The more hats I made and had to unravel taught me that size of hook to yarn is important. My standard size hook for hats is now pretty much the H hook.
Hat with a Flower
I was making a couple hats for other daughters at the same time so I did not put a flower on this hat at first. When I gave it to my daughter she said, ‘Where is the flower?’ I was glad because I love the addition of a flower. I used this simple Three Layer Flower on Raverly, which was found on Pinterest.
The stitch variations in this pattern make it fun to crochet and give a delicate feminine look to this hat that I like.
My little granddaughter wears the hat more than my daughter does. I’m not sure what that says about the sizing, since she’s only 3 years old. LOL.
